  • Spiral patterns have been part of many cultures art since pre-history. Celtic spirals date back five thousand years as we see at the megalithic burial site of Newgrange in Ireland. The spiral, symbol of growth and re-growth in an eternal cycle, sits in holistic harmony with our vision to save rainforest. These spirals date from the ‘Golden age’ of Celtic art. c.650 AD. Dimensions: 20.5 x 1.25 ins / 520 x 30 mm. Weight: 9.5 lb / 4.3 kg approx.

  • This pair of splendid sea dragons is taken from the Oseberg ship burial of Queen Asa c.820AD in Norway, and from a very similar design on a carved runestone from Ardre, on the isle of Gotland, Sweden. Erected in honour of a father by his sons, somewhere between 1000 and 1100 AD. It is reasonable to assume that Scandinavian art and culture moved freely and peaceably around its homeland for three hundred years. C. 820-1100 AD. And slightly re-styled by us, 2002. Dimensions: 21 x 22 x 1 1/8 inches-535 x 560 x 30 mm. Weight: 9lb / 4.5kg.

  • *note. Viking art never followed the laws of Celtic art, meaning, the Vikings never carved symmetrical designs. The heads, tails and bellies of these beasts are slightly off balance (some would say the same could be said of Vikings), this means the weight of the piece will hang slightly to one side. To hang correctly, we suggest two double-sided sticky pads (supplied) to help in mounting the plaque accurately. Finished product may be subject to slight shade variations.

The Celtic 'Tree of Life' intertwines beautifully with the 'Great Tree Yggdrasil' of the Vikings, in the concept of bringing you the charming gift of old-growth reclaimed elm, finely hand crafted and carved in ancient and modern artworks, incorporated into modern functional furniture, that may become a family heirloom. Trees were as vitally important to the ancient peoples as they are to their descendants today; us! They constructed, crafted and carved using the bountiful trees around them, taking care to pay their respect to the trees they felled, and honouring mother nature for her harvest of fine timber. Special trees were to be cherished and maybe even feared, for they certainly harboured spirits. Our partners use only reclaimed timber. Their refusal to log rainforest for gain would have raised a smile among the ancients. They dedicate themselves to the preservation of our environment through art, history and culture- and stunning elm that was once probably a bridge or radio tower, logged in the last millennium. Needless to say they will log nothing in this millennium.
