  • Splendid jewellery would have been part of everyday dress from Cleopatra to the average citizen of Egypt, both men and women. Rarely in the ancient world can we see rich decoration on the same grand scale as in the land of the Pharaohs. The case is painted gold with miniature hand paintings of the ‘Blind Harpists' playing for royal ladies, and carved and painted hieroglyphs of Hathor, Sati, Mut, Nephthys, Isis, Neith, and Merceber adorn the doors. Inside we see another painting, the famous pectoral of Mereret. Two Anubis from Thebes crown the interior of what is a lavishly crafted piece. The lid lifts to expose a mirror. Dimensions: 12 x 12inch base, x 11 ¼ inches high / 305 x 305 base, x 285mm high. Weight: 15 lb / 6.8 kg.

  • We go back to the ‘Early Insular’ period of Celtic art for the patterns used to adorn this mirrored jewellery box. The Celts left their mark as jewellers on the ancient world, but very little remains today, a tumultuous history meant that much would have been traded off and melted down to use as the currency of the day. Modern times have seen a vast re-emergence of Celtic art in jewellery, both for men and women, and it would be difficult to find a jeweller that didn’t have something (or maybe even a range) of Celtic designs, and of course many a modern lady would be adorned by the arts of the ancient Celts. Dimensions: 10 x 7 ¾ inches base x 9 ¼ high / 255 x 195 base x 235mm high.

  • A simple elm tree embellishes the doors of this classically designed, mirrored jewellery box. It would be difficult to find women in history that didn’t adorn themselves with beautiful jewels, set in silver and gold. Ancient and modern designs would be found in many a lady’s collection today, but the box in which she would keep those precious creations, some of them family heirlooms, would be along our classic lines. Maybe this piece will also become a family heirloom. Dimensions: 13 ¾ inch x 9 ¾ inch base x 14 ½ inches high / 350mm x 250mm base x 370mm high. Weight: 15.5 lb / 7 kg.

  • The Celtic 'Tree of Life' intertwines beautifully with the 'Great Tree Yggdrasil' of the Vikings, in the concept of bringing you the charming gift of old-growth reclaimed elm, finely hand crafted and carved in ancient and modern artworks, incorporated into modern functional furniture, that may become a family heirloom. Trees were as vitally important to the ancient peoples as they are to their descendants today; us! They constructed, crafted and carved using the bountiful trees around them, taking care to pay their respect to the trees they felled, and honouring mother nature for her harvest of fine timber. Special trees were to be cherished and maybe even feared, for they certainly harboured spirits. Our partners use only reclaimed timber. Their refusal to log rainforest for gain would have raised a smile among the ancients. They dedicate themselves to the preservation of our environment through art, history and culture- and stunning elm that was once probably a bridge or radio tower, logged in the last millennium. Needless to say they will log nothing in this millennium.
